Although the villa is in a quiet area of Villamartin, there are a number of plazas nearby at Los Dolses and Rioja where you will find bars, restaurants (including Greek, Indian, Chinese and European), a small supermarket /newsagent and hairdressers nearby.
In Villamartin itself, there is the magnificent plaza which has excellent facilities and a great atmosphere, especially in the evening. There are over 20 international bars and restaurants, a bank and supermarket. During the summer evenings, there is a variety of entertainment provided in the plaza area. Besides golf and the beaches there is nearby Torrevieja. This typical Spanish resort has retained much of its atmosphere and many Spaniards come from far and wide to spend their holidays each year. There is an abundance of good restaurants and bars in the town providing lively nightlife and there is also an evening street craft market held most nights. If you�re lucky your visit may coincide with one of the many festivals held in the town including the famous Habaneras.
Also, Torrevieja is great for just SHOPPING !!,it has hundreds of shops and you should be able to find much of what you need there.
On the outskirts of Torrevieja, especially during summer, is the popular AQUA PARK . It has all the usual things, pools, water slides and rides to suit all the family. Also worth a visit is the Park of Nations, built to represent a map of Europe, with each country� identified by its national flag and surrounded by water, you can hire swan shaped boats to sail around them.
In Torrevieja, also during summer, is the popular INDIANA BILL'S A specially designed Soft Play park for Children up to the age of 12.
Also just to the south of Torrevieja, there ia a very popular GO-KARTcircuit. Catering for all ages,even youngster from 5-10 years old,they even have competition carts for the more advanced.

The salt flats to the north and west of Torrevieja form a natural reserve which is home to flamingos and other sorts of wild life, and partly due to the sun but also due to the two huge salt lakes which draw moisture from the air, this region is rated by the W.H.O as one of the healthiest places in the world, ideal for rheumatism and arthritis sufferers.
However, if you feel the need for something completely different, BENIDORM is 1 �� hours by car, one of the first established resorts on the Costa Blanca it is still known as one of the liveliest. Another hour or so north and you will come to the lovely city of VALENCIA, and for the really adventurous, BARCELONA is further still up the coast.
If sight seeing is more your thing the ancient cities of ALICANTE, ELECHE , CARTAGENA and MURCIA are within easy travelling distance of the villa, all are extremely interesting towns and each is well worth a visit in its own right.
A trip to be recommended is a run up the LA MANGA PENINSULA which is a narrow strip of land that runs for some 20 or so kilometres north,the route is so narrow that you have the sea on both sides of you as you travel. There are a number of cafes and restaurants en route and you could take in a trip to the famous LA MANGA CLUB while you are in the area! To get to La Manga,take the motorway towards Cartagena,upon nearing Cartagena you will see signs for La Manga,just follow these and it will lead you onto the peninsula.

There are marinas at Torrevieja, Cabo Roig and Campoamor where day fishing or boating trips are available and at various places along the coast every kind of water sport can be found including sailing, diving and wind surfing.
